The winter recruitment period proves to be a time of intense rumour and potential big-money moves. Numerous prominent footballers find themselves linked with transfers away from their current clubs. Here is a look at some of the major names who are poised to be changing clubs in January.

A. Semenyo

Despite the Black Stars' inability to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations, this has kept the forward available, reports suggest a significant transfer is close. The Bournemouth attacker has a contract with a £65 million release clause applicable for a short window at the start of the month. Recent developments indicate Manchester City look to have won the race for his signature. This English centre-back has continued to excel for Crystal Palace despite a summer transfer to Liverpool collapsing. Reports suggest the London club is willing to consider a sale for the right price, believed to be in the region of forty million pounds. Bournemouth appear to be leading the chase, with Aston Villa, Brentford, and Crystal Palace additionally credited with an inquiry.

Rúben Neves

The Portuguese midfielder could be set for a comeback to the English top flight after a spell in Saudi Arabia. Still only 28, while his contract expiring in the summer of 2026, he is a potential bargain. Teams like Liverpool and Manchester United are connected to the player.
