The second-hand marketplace Members Express Anger Over Sizing Updates
Shoppers are voicing their frustration following a change that caused products showing incorrect sizing.
The second-hand shopping app has altered its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes but did not contact every member regarding the update.
Online Platforms Backlash
Countless users and merchants have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification.
The company said the updated approach better aligns with similar services.
It has advised users to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually if necessary, which has left users frustrated.
Size Classification Updates
Previously, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter and a range for example S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the sizing has been recategorised - for example a size L was previously a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
User Accounts
A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Another user, located in Scotland, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were appearing on the platform as measurements 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they may become frustrated," she explained.
Manual Updates
A different user, located in England, explained she became annoyed because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizes on "every single listing".
"This situation is especially annoying, as I'm chronically ill and Vinted sales have been crucial following partial earnings loss," she said.
Marketplace Information
The platform boasts over 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: last year, the platform withdrew an update regarding delivery choices following member complaints.
